Austin-based Guard-IT is a privately held Texas corporation established in 1999 that provides third-party software escrow services to software and technology developers and their customers. These services mitigate risk in software and IT relationships by preserving actual copies of the parties’ digital assets that are bought, sold or licensed.
Guard-IT’s diverse customer base spans the globe and ranges from small software developers to Fortune 100 companies and from small municipalities to large federal agencies in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.

History
- 1999: Guard-IT established as a Texas corporation, launches first website and service offerings.
- 2002: Guard-IT introduces the industry's first-ever online Client Tools system to automate the creation and maintenance of software escrow agreements.
- 2002: Guard-IT acquires the accounts and assets of Fidex Americas Corporation, an Idaho-based software escrow provider.
- 2010: Microsoft selects Guard-IT as one of its preferred software escrow providers its “Certified for Microsoft Dynamics” developer accreditation program (see news release).
- 2015: Guard-IT repositions itself in the market with a new website, additional business development personnel and a focus on software and IT asset preservation, with solutions tailored to the oil & gas industry.
- 2024: Guard-IT wins a landmark, international arbitration decision, successfully defending its depositor client’s intellectual property (see announcement).
